A numerical investigation on impulse-induced nonlinear longitudinal waves in pantographic beams

This contribution presents the results of a campaign numerical simulations aimed at better understanding propagation longitudinal waves in pantographic beams within large-deformation regime. Initially, we recall key features Lagrangian discrete spring model, which was introduced previous works and that tested extensively as capable accurately forecasting mechanical response structures based on motif, both statics dynamics. Successively, stepwise integration scheme used to solve equations motions is briefly discussed. The content present concerns thorough presentation some selected simulations, focus particular stretch profiles induced by impulsive loads. study takes into account different tests, varying number unit cells, i.e., total length system, stiffnesses, shape impulse, well its properties such duration peak amplitude, boundary conditions. Some conjectures about form traveling are formulated, be confirmed further analytical investigations.
